2025 – Constitutional Competence Category #5: Protection of Children, Health & Morality
2025 bills reviewed for this category:

All bills requires an “Aye” vote to protect and promote the health and morality of all people, and most especially children. This includes privacy protection in public spaces, public schools (including over-night school events) and sex-designated facilities (HB0072 and SF0062). Additionally, the protection of children from sex-offenders is strengthened by providing that no sex offender shall have unsupervised visitation with a child (HB0083), and the requirement that sex offenders must verify their registration more frequently (HB0280).

As the health and morality of the people are essential to their well-being, and to the peace and permanence of the state, it shall be the duty of the legislature to protect and promote these vital interests by such measures for the encouragement of temperance and virtue, and such restrictions upon vice and immorality of every sort, as are deemed necessary to the public welfare.
