Marlene Brady was elected in 2024 as Representative for House District 60 in Sweetwater County.  She successfully beat incumbent Tony Neimiec in the Republican Primary, and Carmen Whitehead (D) in the General Election.

She is up for reelection in 2026.

Brady also warned against over reliance on government protection, arguing that it could lead to a loss of individual freedoms.

She advocated for self-reliance and adherence to existing laws, while acknowledging that a homeland security committee could be useful if it focused on external threats rather than increasing government control over citizens.

“The world is not a safe place. People have a false sense of security that ‘I’m safe’.  “No government can provide a basic fundamental right to self defense,” Brady said. “If we had a safe society it would be a police state with no liberty. Free people need to live by the consequences of their actions in order to maintain social order, otherwise if we cede to an entity we are giving up our liberty.”
