SummaryRepresentationCompetenceIntegrityMore Data

+ + +

For 2025 Hicks received a positive score for all three categories of Representation, Competence and Integrity and therefore has been ranked as High Trust.

Larry Hicks has served in Senate District 11 as a WY Senator for Carbon and Sweetwater Counties from 2011 to the present.

He is up for reelection in 2026.

Hicks said the level of guaranteed contract employment seen in continuing teacher contracts is not seen anywhere else at the state or local level. Under current statute, school districts must employ teachers “on a continuing basis from year to year without annual contract renewal.”

“I’m not aware of any other public employee in the state of Wyoming that’s afforded that guaranteed contract right,” Hicks told members of the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday.

Hick added he was concerned about schools employing temporary teachers who had no passion or interest in their students’ education. The senator clarified this is “not an anti-teacher bill,” but rather a bill to ensure equal employment opportunities across the board.
